One of the UK’s largest vehicle logistics providers signs up with Goodyear
Autologic, a leading provider of support services to the automotive industry specialising in vehicle technical services and distribution, has signed a five year contract with Goodyear Dunlop. Goodyear Dunlop will provide Autologic with Goodyear tyres, including its recently developed 275/70R22.5 Goodyear Marathon LHT II tyre, which will be fitted and maintained by the tyre manufacturer’s dedicated TruckForce.
Autologic, which previously worked with Michelin, will fit the Goodyear Marathon LHT II tyre to its more than 400 strong fleet of vehicle transporters. The tyre is the latest generation of trailer tyre for long haul operations and significantly reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It combines enhanced low rolling resistance with excellent wet grip as well as shorter stopping distances, especially on wet roads. In addition thanks to its construction, the tyre gives excellent mileage and very low noise. The Marathon LHT II is the latest member of the Goodyear Max Technology FuelMax family.
Commenting on the new partnership with Goodyear Dunlop, Simon Knight, Head of Operations – Fleet and Planning at Autologic, said: “Our business is focused on providing excellent service to our customers – which means it’s imperative we operate a robust and reliable fleet. The support we will now get through TruckForce UK helps to cement this promise to our customers. As a part of our partnership we have adopted Goodyear’s Fleet Online Solutions and Fleet Online Solutions Mobile and now have much greater visibility of our fleet. Very simply this means we have complete and instant information when it comes to monitoring and maintaining each and every tyre – helping us to identify and prevent problems before they occur.”
According to Knight, achieving optimal mileage with the Goodyear Marathon LHT II was also a key decision-making factor. He continued: “As well as having a responsibility to our customers, we also have a responsibility to the environment and our shareholders. The Goodyear tyre allows us to achieve excellence in performance as well maximising our mileage and fuel efficiency. From both an environmental and financial perspective, this is an incredibly important business goal.”
Goodyear Dunlop’s UK Commercial Sales Manager, Graham Hutchison, concluded: “We worked closely with Autologic to arrive at a package of product and services that met their needs exactly. The demands of the car transporter industry are very specific – a low profile is needed to minimise travelling height but high speed and load ratings are essential to maximise capacity. This is a difficult balancing act, which very few tyre manufacturers have been able to solve.
“Our 275/70R22.5 LHT II tyre has achieved exactly this and this latest contract win is a testament to both the benefits of the tyre and our dedicated TruckForce service.”
